Track Premiere: Kontusion – “Rotting With Sickness”

If the rest of Kontusion’s four-song debut EP is as good as the track we’re premiering here today, “Rotting With Sickness,” we’ve gotta think that this new duo’s self-released debut won’t remain self-released for long. And why wouldn’t it slay from track one to four, with the combined talents of guitarist/vocalist Mark Bronzino (Mammoth Grinder, ANS, Iron Reagan) and drummer Chris Moore (Repulsion, Coke Bust)? The pair have brought together their varied extreme metal experience into a raw, hateful assault of primitive death metal fortified with punishing d-beats and seasoned with manic solos. “Rotting With Sickness” on its own offers up an EP’s worth of killer material in under six minutes.

The full self-titled  EP, which was recorded and mixed by Bronzino at Volume IV Studios in New Brunswick, NJ and Damaged City Studios, Washington, DC, is set for release on cassette and digitally on March 25. and can be preordered here.

The duo also has a brief East Coast tour to support the EP planned for April and May.

Here’s what Moore had to say about the origins of Kontusion:

“[Mark and I have] known each other for a long time but had never really played music together. Years ago we met up on tour and demoed some stuff but we put it aside as our other bands were touring a lot. Last year we resurrected the best of those riffs from the demo cemetery and Kontusion was born.”
