EP Premiere: Cryptworm – ‘Reeking Gunk of Abhorrence’

Cryptworm formed in 2014, but the Bristol, England-based duo first pushed their grimy, old head-approved death metal and nauseating gastro-death vocals onto the masses in 2017 with the release of their self-titled demo on compatriotic label Goatprayer Records. The duo have remained prolific ever since, but after releasing only three songs demos and a split 7”, Reeking Gunk of Abhorrence feels like a full length come true—even if it is only a 20 minute EP. But, as you’ll soon bear witness, drummer Joe Knight and guitarist, bassist and vocalist Tibor Hanyi made sure every second of this record drip with rotten guts and infectious diseases.

“We really can’t wait to get this slab of filth out there finally,” writes Cryptworm. “After six years of writing, recording and gigging this will for sure carve our place in what is today’s savage and relentless death metal underground. This is a milestone for us, but yet a taster of what is to come in the future.”
