Wake had a colossal year in 2018. Their album Misery Rites received a 9/10 (full disclosure: from this writer) and the album was named Decibel‘s 35th best album of the year. Little surprise, then, that their label Translation Loss is reissuing Sowing The Seeds Of A Worthless Tomorrow, initially released in a small cassette and vinyl run.
“Sowing is the album where we became a band,” guitarist Rob LaChance says. “It drove us stylistically closer to the sound we were trying to achieve in past years and pushed us even further down the path towards Misery Rites. I still love the general murkiness of the album. It’s a great representation both figuratively and literally of what kind of headspace some of us were in at that time. It’s comical how much work was put into a record that’s barely 20 minutes long. ”
The reissue includes two variants: a silver and gold merge vinyl version limited to 200 copies and clear with black smoke and metallic silver and gold splatter, limited to 100 copies. Jam it below and don’t miss Wake as part of the upcoming Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly on April 13-14 at the Fillmore along with Triptykon, Baroness, Obituary (special Cause of Death set), Enslaved (special Frost set), Exhorder and more.
