Pairing & Killing: WAKE & Wake Brewing

In our new series Pairing & Killing, we’re bringing you our favorite picks for combinations of beers and bands based on the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest: Philly 2019 lineup. Metal & Beer tickets for the event, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday April 13 & 14 at the Fillmore Philadelphia, are almost sold out.

First up, our friends at Wake Brewing in Rock Island, IL (a first-time addition to Decibel Metal & Beer Fest this past December in Los Angeles) collaborated with Canadian grind unit WAKE on Paradigm Lost, a double dry-hopped IPA. The beer packs a hoppy punch but comes in at only 5% ABV, which keeps it moving fast and strong, just like the band. The description of the beer, per Wake Brewing: “Two Wakes collide with Paradigm Lost, a double dry hopped hazy IPA. This brew is pleasing to the masses but twists the beer genre with copious amounts of citrus and dank hop notes backed up with a clean Canadian malt profile. This Double Dry Hopped Hazy IPA is Paradigm Lost!

“Wake are one of the most impressive grind bands of recent years, their passion for creating art with sound is much like our way of showcasing our art through beer, always challenging our audiences with our work,” Wake owner and cult leader Jason Parris says. “This beer will be no exception.”
