If you like your hardcore metallic with a shot of spastic metalcore, look no further than Accident Prone. The Virginia-based group check every box on their new EP, Deep Wound Red, employing dissonant riffs, beefy chugs and a rhythm section that just keeps getting lower and slower. There are also bits of post-hardcore on songs like “Yellow Spectacles” that offer much-welcome melody before jumping back into mosh parts and chaos.
There have dozens of hardcore and metalcore albums worth your time this year; Accident Prone’s is another release that offers a refreshing take on a crowded genre. Deep Wound Red is streaming below before independent release on Friday.
