So, things are kind of crazy lately. Need a good distraction? Well, I found some ripping death metal that might help. You guys like some ripping death metal, right???
Well if you like your death metal to sound like Incantation crossed with Bolt Thrower and Human Waste-era Suffocation (and a touch of Karelian Isthmus-era Amorphis), then Camo Pants Records has a real treat for you coming out on July 6. On that day, Skullcrush will unleash Visions of the Firestorm Eclipse, an unrelenting and thoroughly satisfying blast of straightforward death metal.
I especially like how the Phoenix-based band brings everything together here. The vocals are low and brutal, but are still comprehensible. There’s plenty of reverb to give the music some atmosphere, but not so much that you can’t tell what the hell is going on. And you can’t argue with those guitars and drums. Visions of the Firestorm Eclipse will only be a four-song EP, but let’s hope it’s a taste of things to come. May they crush skulls long into the future!
