“Fast” Eddie Clarke, the former guitarist for legendary UK outfit Motörhead, has passed away at the age of 67, the band confirms via their official Facebook page. He passed away peacefully while being treated for pneumonia in a hospital.
Clarke was the lone surviving member of Motörhead’s best-known lineup, playing on the first six albums, including the Hall of Fame-inducted Ace of Spades. He went on to form the band Fastway. Additionally, Decibel interviewed Clarke last year when inducting Tank’s Filth Hounds of Hades into the Hall of Fame. Fast Eddie was the producer on that record.
“Just heard the sad news that Fast Eddie Clarke has passed away,” longtime guitarist Phil Campbell said on the Facebook post. “Such a shock, he will be remembered for his iconic riffs and was a true rock n roller. RIP Eddie.”
Decibel would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to the family, friends and fans of Clarke. His death signals the end of a very important, very loud era.
