It was a pretty groundbreaking election day in Virginia yesterday when the State elected Danica Roem, the first openly transgender legislator to serve in the Virginia House of Delegates. Roem is also an outspoken metalhead, fronting Virginia thrash outfit Cab Ride Home. In her victory speech last night, she actually included metalheads in her thank-you list.
Roem defeated the incumbent Bob Marshall, who previously served in the House of Delegates for 25 years. You can watch her full victory speech below and find Cab Ride Home on Bandcamp.
