Egyptian Blue, the third EP from Brooklyn-based trio Prostitution, is a daring and fearless blend of genres. Manipulating black metal with elements of thrash, shoegaze and even psychedelic rock, Egyptian Blue knocks it out of the park.
Exhibit A: EP opener “Hypergiant,” which opens the floodgate with a surge of blast beats, almost trance-inducing tremolo picking and thrashy riffs. That’s followed by “The Boat,” with headbang-worthy thrash riffs trading places with psychedelic melodies, which is followed by equally impressive closer “Elevated Droves.”
Prostitution features members of Beast Modulus, Black Harvest and Demilitia.
