Full Album Stream: Process of Guilt – ‘Black Earth’

While Process of Guilt can be classed as a sludge metal band, that isn’t doing the band’s sound justice. While the bedrock of their new album, Black Earth, is sludge metal, the Portuguese quartet unleash the ferocity and precision of death metal and hardcore in their songs.

Songs like “Feral Earth” and the title track, “Black Earth,” use menacing riffs, shrieking feedback and even death/doom-style slowed down sections that keep Black Earth sounding fresh and interesting throughout songs that climb upwards of 11 minutes long.

Black Earth is Process of Guilt’s fourth LP, following 2012’s Fæmin. It will see release on September 22 through Bleak Recordings and Division Records, but you can enjoy an advance stream now, exclusively through Decibel.
