Eerie Von’s Book of Rare Punk and Metal Photos has been Reanimated

When it comes to members of Danzig and the visual medium, it’s hard to top Henry & Glenn Forever. But there is some pretty stiff competition in the form of Misery Obscura, a compendium of nearly 30 years of photography taken by bass player Eerie Von.

The book is a detailed look at the musician, and those who surrounded him, from 1981 until 2009. And considering that Von is on albums by the Misfits, Samhain and Danzig, this isn’t just a bunch of crowd shots at the local VFW hall.

We are talking pages and pages and pages of Misfits images, who Von started shooting at the age of 16 in 1981. These devilocks are fresh, and while you get your occasional photos of James Hetfield, HR Giger and Marilyn Manson, this is really the kind of book that is a necessity for those who want to closely follow Danzig’s career from horror punk to bloody deathrocker to everything else he was before that cat litter meme.

Now, this book was already released back in the early aughts, but it’s been out of print for a long time, and this has not only been unearthed but also rejuvenated with better photo production and a much nicer hardback package.

Anyway, this was released just yesterday and it really is just a shit ton of punk-as-fuck pictures. If you have a coffee table that could use something a little cooler than junk mail and an old issue of Car and Driver, pick this up.
