Delve Deeper into Your Neurosis with the October 2016 Decibel Meter

In April we announced our partnership with f.y.e for the Decibel Meter, a monthly collection of titles featured both online and in store to beef up your metal collection. This month’s picks are for our already-out-of-print Neurosis issue, because any collection devoid of Neurosis lacks a major voice in the pantheon of extreme music. Said list, pertaining to the October 2016 issue with Neurosis on the cover, can be found here.

Fires Within Fires, the first full-length in four years from the genre-redefining, city-leveling Neurosis (we assume you’re familiar), leads the charge. For anyone unfamiliar (and here’s the chance to remedy that immediately), we included the three albums entered into our Hall of Fame in this issue: Souls at Zero, the band’s 1992 giant leap into previously uncharted metallic territory; Through Silver in Blood, their 1996 churning juggernaut charge ever deeper into unknown audio terrain; and Times of Grace, the 1999 doorway into a world wherein the same release could comfort and crush listeners. Additional highlights include: our pick for one of the top death metal albums of the year, Blood Incantation’s Starspawn; Opeth’s further wanderings into the world of prog with Sorceress; latest album Guidance by instrumental mainstays Russian Circles; and the deluxe band edition of Faith No More’s 1985 full-length debut We Care a Lot. See the full list here.

Hence, if your CD player or turntable is in need of a serious upgrade in the level of heaviness, head straight to the nearest f.y.e location to grab these titles in person, or over to the Decibel Meter page at f.y.e.’s website, to stockpile immediately.
