Formulated to serve as a brutal antithesis to what the band views as the pervasive conformity and repressive theology of its Mormon-majority home state, the upcoming debut full-length from Salt Lake City atheistic agitators Making Fuck A Harrowing End brings on the dark via an unusually expansive, roiling maelstrom of doom and sludge metal accented and emboldened by guest spots courtesy SubRosa violinist Kim Pack. 

The record isn’t out until March 11 — pre-order here — but we’ve got an exclusive premiere of the track “Rich Man’s Son” below. 

Here’s what Making Fuck founder Kory Quist told Decibel about the track:

“Rich Man’s Son” comes from a story about a photographer named Kevin Carter who in 1993 won the Pulitzer Prize for a photo he took Sudan. The photo consisted of a starving young girl struggling to make her way to United Nations food camp while in the back ground you can see a vulture waiting for this child to die. The girl’s end was so near the birds could smell the death. Kevin received so much ridicule for not helping the young girl that a year later he killed him self leaving behind this note:

“I’m really, really sorry. The pain of life overrides the joy to the point that joy does not exist… depressed … without phone … money for rent … money for child support … money for debts … money!!! … I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain … of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners … I have gone to join Ken if I am that lucky.”

As for the origin of the band name….
