TRACK PREMIERES from Wake/Theories Split

Or is it “Tracks Premiere”? Anyway, the openly Canadian label Handshake Inc. is releasing this six-track 7″ grindstravaganza in North America on May 20th (with the impeccable, taste-for-days 7Degrees Records handling duties in every other geographic region), and both bands are wielding two songs a piece while each taking a crack at a His Hero is Gone cover. And they’ve been so kind as to stream some songs all over our faces.
I’ve been a huge fan of Calgarian quintet Wake for a few years now as they keep releasing virulent, crusted grind that manages to find piercing rays of melody in even the most brutally fucked tracks. This song may in fact push you to buy a ticket to Europe for the band’s criminally not-American tour with Primitive Man in June.

Seattle anti-heroes Theories, though, have been through tumultuous member changes and other catastrophes in the past, but finally seem on solid ground. This death-dripping grindage with an excruciating ending ushers in their strongest material yet and will likely get them the attention they truly deserve.

Each label’s only making 500 copies, home skillets, so buy early and buy often.
