UFN 24: Quick Thoughts
• Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: “I will let Phil choose how he wants to lose this fight.” That has got to be the best quote I’ve heard all year!
• There’s only one Mr. Wonderful, and his name is Paul Orndorff (a pro wrestler who is most famous for feuding with Hulk Hogan in the early Eighties).
• The Korean Zombie is such a cool nick name! Jung Chan-Sung has chosen wisely (although I suspect it was an American who came up with the name).
• TUF13 begins on Wednesday. Brock Lesnar coaches his welterweights against Junior Dos Santos’s, then they will fight each other in a No. 1 heavyweight contender’s match in June. Should be a fun season and a great fight to cap it off!
• Amir Saddollah has HUGE feet! Biggest in the UFC?
• It’s always so funny to see Dan Hardy get introduced by Bruce Buffer, he is so into it and really enjoys every second of it, gesturing for Buffer! Gets his blood boiling right before the fight, no doubt.
• Hardy’s nick name is “The Outlaw”. Seems like we (HammerFall) just wrote his new intro music! [Laughs] (We didn’t, really, but have a non-related song called “The Outlaw” on our upcoming album, Infected, due out in North America on June 7th.)
• What a head kick by Anthony “Rumble” Johnson! Hardy thought he could block it, but the foot just went straight through his guard and hit him in the face, knocking him to the ground!
• Johnson admitted to weighing 230 lbs. when he started his camp for this fight. Coming back from a year-and-a-half-long injury lay-off, he let himself slip and gained a lot of weight. Getting down to 170 must be a pain in the ass for him!
• Phil Davis beat Sweden’s Alexander Gustafsson back at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. Now, they train together.
• The takedown defense of Lil’ Nog seemed impenetrable, until Davis shifted to the single. That’s all she wrote.

Unbelievable finish by The Korean Zombie!
According to Joe Rogan, it’s called a Twister. You take your opponent’s back, lock up one of his legs with both of yours, then trap one of his arms behind your back, grab a hold of his head and crank. The first Twister in UFC history, and Joe Rogan exclaimed: “Somewhere, Eddie Bravo is very happy!” Eddie Bravo is a second degree BJJ black belt who has put out several training videos (and has trained Rogan, Shinya Aoki and Dan Hardy, among many others), and in the post-fight interview TKZ admitted to watching them on YouTube and vowing to use it in a fight one day. What made this submission even more incredible was the fact that he pulled it off with one (1!) second left in Round Two! A highlight reel finish and a story-book ending to very entertaining featherweight fight.
