STREAMING: Junius “Battle In The Sky”

I don’t usually premiere tracks on here, but when I do, there are few bands I’d rather talk about than Junius. After spoiling us with excellent full-lengths in 2009 and 2011, these Massholes are finally returning with a collection of new recordings next month after a nearly two-and-a-half year break. Given that a few weeks still remain before you’ll be able to hear the Days of the Fallen Sun EP in full, we’re pretty pumped to introduce “Battle in the Sky”–one of the extended play’s two brand new tracks that fit quite nicely alongside new versions of two tunes from past splits–to the listening public for the first time. The song may be the shortest of the non-interstitial variety on the EP, but there’s still a lot going on over the course of its 212 seconds, highlighted by the melodic shift at 0:36 (reprised at 3:00) and the tension it releases after the build up of the main riff.
Be sure to catch the quartet on its mini-US tour at the end of February if you can, particularly its FREE show at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar alongside the almighty Caspian, A Storm of Light and a glow-in-the-dark mini golf course. You can pre-order a copy of the EP, which hits shelves February 18th, here.
