Blast Worship: Held Hostage

Where they from?
Peoria, Illinois. Football is almost here, I can feel it. Already planning on what Jets games I want to go to in December when they are 2-10 and failing to muster any type of offensive production against the Cleveland Browns or some other ass-backward NFL franchise. Football, catch the fever!

Why the hype?
If you found yourself itching for brutal midwest powerviolence this morning, well, it just might be your lucky day. Every note of Held Hostage is dripping with anger and misanthropy, from the barbaric blasts to the cavernous breakdowns. Some key comparisons here would be Iron Lung, Sex Prisoner and even Boston’s own legendary Mind Eraser, who I think the band’s music resembles the most. Just churning molotovs of dungeonous two-steps, agonizing rhythmic parts and face-fucking fast ones.

Latest release?
Held Hostage, self-released. This is one hell of a debut demo from a band that sounds like they’ve been doing it for years. Powerviolence is a genre done by many but not particularly well, but bands like Held Hostage are the exception. Excited to see where the band goes next.
