Full Album Stream: Mors Principium Est – “Darkness Invisible”

After 26 years, you can expect a band like Mors Principium Est to know how to light up a room with riff-laden pyrotechnics and flatten it with crushing intensity. And that’s exactly what the band brings on their latest album, Darkness Invisible, due out tomorrow via via Perception, an imprint of Reigning Phoenix Music. Decibel is of course an avid supporter of melodic-death metal done right, and is therefore proud to provide the album streaming in full below.

I’m especially partial to the cinematic and anthemic flair on track three, “Monuments.” According to the band:

“This is the most unorthodox Mors song on the album. It’s almost like a ballad, and because of that, I had my doubts about including it. But I’m glad we did, as it offers some nice variation in tempo and vibe, and people seem to really like it. The dark lyrics provide a great contrast to the beautiful and almost heroic melody in the chorus. In the end, there’s a complete change of pace as the song suddenly shifts into a fast, black-metal-style riff.”

Indeed, there’s black metal moments scattered throughout the record, something I can definitely appreciate.
