Earlier this month, Buñuel frontman, and long time Decibel back page columnist, Eugene Robinson suffered a severe stroke that robbed him of the used him of his ability to write, read or speak. Though doctors are hopeful that Eugene recover all of those skills in time, he faces a long road of medical treatment, physical and speech rehabilitation, and living expenses ahead.
His wife Kasia Robinson has started a GoFundMe to assist with those substantial costs.
“For someone whose life has been built around language, music, and connection, it’s hard to imagine a crueler twist,” writes Kasia.
“If Eugene’s writing ever made you laugh, think, argue, or see something differently… if his music ever moved you… if you’ve ever shared a round with him on the mats, been on the receiving end of one of his jokes, found his finger selfie on your phone, or found yourself caught up in one of his legendary stories, this is your chance to help.
“Let’s help him get back to making us laugh, making us think, and—before long—turning the dojo into a pirate ship again.
