Where they from?
Binghamton, NY. The Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers both got swept in the second round of the playoffs. I would brag, gloat even except for the fact that the Mets are a bajillion games under .500 and it’s not even Memorial Day. Misery loves company, I guess.
Why the hype?
Our beloved Binghamton badasses are back better than ever. Common Decency are a throwback to early aughts grungy grindcore/powerviolence in the same vein as Chainsaw to the Face and Spoonful of Vicodin. The band conjures bursts of rage at the speed of hate while sounding like they recorded everything in a hantavirus-infected trash compactor. Something like this would have fit right in on This Comp Kills Fascists.
Latest release?
Split w/ Self Love, out now on Rat Mix records. It’s the janky stop/start sections that really do it for me here. Also love that the vocalist sounds like a drunk little league Dad yelling at the umpires for missing ball and strikes. Springtime in Binghamton must be beautiful.
