Oh, do we have a treat for you! Voice of Storms, the highly anticipated new album from Horseburner, will be released this Friday, June 21, but we have the exclusive album stream for you right here, right now. Known for their high-energy sludge metal sound and staggering musicianship, Horseburner has continually pushed boundaries. Their latest effort promises to be their most ambitious and dynamic release yet.
Since their formation in 2009, Horseburner has garnered comparisons to heavyweights like Mastodon and Baroness. With a unique sound rooted in their Appalachian industrial background and elevated by conceptual themes, the band has proven to be a formidable force in the heavy rock scene. From their impactful debut, Dead Seeds, Barren Soil, to the acclaimed 2019 album The Thief, Horseburner has consistently delivered powerful and resonant music.
Voice of Storms is an allegorical commentary on the mistreatment of women throughout history, telling the story of a girl sold into child marriage who becomes imbued with the spirit of the ancient Greek hunt goddess Diana. This spirit unleashes havoc on a society that views females as mere objects or currency. Musically, the record is a sludge-prog triumph, blending blistering tempos, fearless hooks, and powerful riffs to create an immersive and thrilling experience. The album was recorded and engineered by Neil Tuuri at Amish Electric Chair Studio and mastered by Billy Joe Bowers. The striking artwork was created by Brian Mercer, with layout by Jacob Dunn.
The band had this to say about their latest creation: “This record is a culmination of years’ worth of challenges. It’s the most complete realization of who we are as a band to date. It’s got some of our heaviest moments yet but also some of our most complex and musical. It’s simultaneously more focused but still immersive, aggressive, and beautiful.”
Whether you are drawn to the intense storytelling, the technical prowess, or the sheer energy of their sound, this album will resonate with fans of sludge, doom, and progressive metal alike. Listen to Voice of Storms exclusively here on DecibelMagazine.com and immerse yourself in the latest chapter of Horseburner’s evolving legacy. Don’t forget to grab your copy on vinyl, CD, or digital from Blues Funeral Recordings on June 21st.
