Full Album Stream: Organ Dealer – “The Weight of Being”

New Jersey’s grindcore berserkers Organ Dealer bring barbwire laced riffs and blast beat fever to their long-awaited sophomore album The Weight of Being.

The foursome of Eric Schnee (drums), Jeff Knoblauch (guitar), Trevor Graham (bass, vocals) and Scot Moriarty (vocals on the record, later replaced in the line-up by Chris Ward) took to the studio with Kevin Bernsten of Developing Nations (Triac, Full of Hell, Noisem, Integrity, Outer Heaven, Jarhead Fertilizer), with mastering by James Plotkin (Botch, Cave In, Gridlink, Discordance Axis, ISIS, Jesu, Thou) in September of 2021.

Decibel Magazine is pleased to unveil, in its entirety, the vicious byproduct of their efforts.

“This album was long in the making for us. It was written during a time of extreme uncertainties. First we were down a guitar player and shortly after we began the writing process, Covid hit and the world shut down,” the band shared in a statement.

“We had about half the album done by then, but the rest of the process proved difficult with just Eric and Jeff meeting up and sneaking into the practice space whenever possible. On top of this, in the middle of the pandemic, Jeff and Eric’s apartment burned down in June.

“However, this only made us more determined than ever with nothing to look forward to other than finishing this record. It really was our only outlet and escape from the collapsing world around us … We’re relieved it’s finally finished and happy to share with everyone what we’ve been working on.”

The album boasts a who’s who of guest appearances, including Sebastian Phillips (Exhumed/Noisem), Ben Anft (Noisem), Lex Nihilum (Sunrot), Jocke Svensson (Birdflesh) and Elis Edin Markskog (Birdflesh).

Organ Dweller’s sophomore album drops worldwide through Everlasting Spew Records on July 28th, and is available on CD, Tape, and digital, with a run of vinyl planned for this fall.
