Blast Worship: Melting Rot

Where they from?
Aurora, Illinois. Aurora: not just a place, but a state of mind. For those of you under 35, Aurora was the setting of both Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2 (aka the greatest films of all time). It’s so amazing to think that this band shares the same hometown as Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar, as well as Glen, the mysterious and poetic restaurant manager at Mikita’s.

Why the hype?
Party time, excellent. This is a goregrind project that’s supposedly been around since 2017 but, me being the dumbass I am, had not even heard of this rambunctious bunch until last week. Melting Rot basically straddle the line between that new wave of traditional gore projects like First Days of Humanity and European groove fanatics Guttulax. Yes, I used the G-word. People hate on the mighty ‘Lax for some reason and I don’t understand. They write songs about poop, I’ll take that any day of the week over your try-hard OSDM pit viper bullshit any day of the week. Schwing!

Latest Release?
Blood Delusion, self-released. Damn, this is one fun record. If that whole Ghoul/Exhumed/Impaled school of bands had toilet vocals, it would basically sound like this. The blast beats might not be the fastest nor tightest we have heard around these parts but there are enough oompa-oompa beats and whirlwind thrash pits to satisfy hungry listeners.
You know, if you stab a man in the dead of winter, steam will rise up from the wounds. Indians believed it was his soul escaping from his body.
