Album Premiere: Astriferous – The Lower Levels of Sentience

This Friday, London deathdealer Me Saco Un Ojo will release the follow-up effort from enterprising Costa Rican death metal quartet Astriferous. Titled The Lower Levels of Sentience, this 12-inch vinyl represents the first new material from the Demo:listen alumni since their runaway 2019 demo, Raise High the Scepter of Indulgence

With mastering handled by Dan Lowndes, Astriferous’ new EP awaits like a void ripped into reality and boiling with tentacular riffs, time-warping bass and drums, and dreadful duel vocal attacks. At only four tracks, The Lower Levels of Sentience is a monstrous and devastating work of art.

“With The Lower Levels of Sentience we’re picking up from where we left off on the demo,” Astriferous say in a statement prepared for today’s premiere. “After that release we immediately started crafting and carefully curating riffs for these new 4 songs focusing on pushing our music further down the brutal and obscure side of Death Metal and blending that with our usual punk and grindcore influences. We think we’re getting better at writing and it shows on this EP.”
