Album Premiere: Hexenbrett – ‘Zweite Beschwörung: Ein Kind zu Töten’

In the icy twilight of 2018 a demo fell from the otherwise frozen and still German sky, severely interrupting the stagnant German black metal underground. Calling themselves Hexenbrett, theirs was a raucous, heavy metal-hearted, yet woodsy and deeply foreboding kind of black metal.

Now Hexenbrett once again emerge from their benighted whereabouts bearing a twisted cornucopia of first wave black metal and blackened heavy metal wonders—plus a Townes Van Zandt cover! On their debut album Zweite Beschwörung: Ein Kind zu Töten, Hexenbrett sound at once like the past and the future of black metal hysteria.

Writes Josto, one-half of Hexenbrett: “Scarlettina and I are highly ecstatic to finally being able to reveal s’TTERBNEXEH debut record Zweite Beschwörung: Ein Kind zu Töten to the world during these dark and wicked times. We hope you either enjoy or absolutely despise the eight original tracks that are featured on Ein Kind zu Töten as well as our take on Townes Van Zandt’s deep cut ‘The Spider Song.’ Let the specters and spirits that have been caught on tape during these sessions take you away on a midnite ride through gloomy landscapes of passion and perversion. Forget your problems and dance to the sound of the Bloody Iris.”
