When a band boasts that their album was recorded in a South Brooklyn basement, and their singer is named Young Al Bundy, then you shouldn’t exactly expect a polished batch of arena rock crowd-pleasers.
And indeed, with Chain Gang Grave, you get something that is punk, ugly and hemorrhaging noise.
“Who Taught You,” a track off their second EP Bury Them and Keep Quiet, is the hardcore version of a snakehandling sermon on the eve of judgment day, a barely contained trashing of instruments and deranged preaching to a room full of lunatics.
