Full EP Stream: Pyrrhon’s Growth Without End

Pyrrhon caught our attention last year with their excellent album The Mother Of Virtues, which combined technical yet chaotic death metal with frontman Doug Moore’s staccato prose poems. A lot has happened in the ensuing year. The album made many year-end lists but the band split from Relapse and has since teamed with David Hall and Handshake for a new EP.

Growth Without End — which Decibel streams entirely below — follows in the same stylistic footprints as the more expansive Mother Of Virtues. At the same time, it’s concise and urgent in a way their breakthrough album wasn’t. You’ll notice some of the same preoccupations as Mother Of Virtues: unchecked growth, disease, environmental degradation and human as parasite. But it’s done with an economy that would rival 80s hardcore albums like Suicidal Tendencies: get in, cause damage and get out.

Growth Without End was mastered by Colin Marston with artwork by Caroline Harrison, who has worked with the band since their inception. The album will be released June 1 as a digital download and 12″ limited edition album with graphic/lyrics printed on the inner-sleeve.  You can preorder it via the Bandcamp link below.

Pyrrhon frontman Moore will be one of our featured Deciblog interviews in June. In the meantime, we highly recommend that you stream the EP below and catch Doug shirtless and unhinged when Pyrrhon plays in your hometown.
