Prepare to be Brewtalized, Chicago! The first The Brewtal Truth Guide to Extreme Beers book signing event in your city happens today from 4 to 7 pm at Northdown Taproom & Cafe (3244 N Lincoln Ave). Apologies for the last-minute notice, but there were a few loose ends that needed to be tied up before the big announcement could be made.
This book-signing date has actually been in the works for a couple months, but some very important final details were just confirmed this week. The big news is that not only will yours truly be on hand selling and signing copies of the book for a mere $20, there will be two very special guests, who were featured in the book, hanging out and signing copies along with me. Yep, Municipal Waste drummer Dave Witte and Surly brewer Todd Haug will be there as well.
Northdown has even gone all out for the occasion and brought in a “brewtally extreme” lineup of beers that will be on tap, a handful of which are profiled in the Brewtal Truth book (the beers marked with an asterisk). If this isn’t enticement enough to get you to come out to Northdown tonight, then you clearly don’t like craft beer.

For any of you who may have scored tickets to 3 Floyds’ Dark Lord Day in Munster, IN—which happens tomorrow, April 26—you’ll also get a chance to buy a signed copy of The Brewtal Truth Guide to Extreme Beers there. I’ll have a table set up and will be selling books until they’re gone from 2:30 to 5:30. Witte and Haug will also be at Dark Lord Day, playing with their bands: Brain Tentacles and Vulgaari, respectively. Plus, my fellow Decibel columnist, Richard Christy—another musician featured in the Brewtal Truth book—will be emceeing the musical part of the festival.
Anyone who already has a copy of my book and wants me to sign it, you can definitely bring it to either event. And if you can’t make it to these, you can always order a copy directly from Decibel at the link below.
Adem Tepedelen’s new craft beer book, Decibel Presents the Brewtal Truth Guide to Extreme Beers: An All-Excess Pass to Brewing’s Outer Limits, is now available in the Decibel online store.
And here’s a little Dave Witte/Muni Waste doing “Beer Pressure” at last year’s Dark Lord Day.
