Fuck Winter. Listen to an Exclusive Stream of Blistered’s New EP

Blistered is a five-piece metallic hardcore outfit who call Tampa home and came to my attention courtesy the good folks at 6131 Records who are releasing their latest offering, and EP called Soul Erosion, which you can stream below. As winter goes on and my stir-craziness hits epic proportions, part of my decision to give this week’s blog space to this band is rooted as much in the fact I used to love watching people beat the living fuck out of each other in the “mosh pits” of VFW halls and other makeshift venues while bands like this hollered and bellowed in the background, and because they’re from Tampa and I just want something having to do with warmth in my life that isn’t a pair of longjohns and a mug of hot chocolate.
Fuck, look how warm everyone looks. Wish I was there…

As a means of introduction, I posed a couple of quick and dichotomous ‘getting to know you’ questions to singer Lennon Livesay. Here’s what he had to say:

Since you’re pretty new to my personal radar and probably a lot of other radars, tell us about Blistered and what you feel the general public needs to know about your band?
Blistered is a five-piece metallic hardcore band from FL. We started in the summer of 2012. We’re super-influenced by all sorts of different stuff, but most specifically hardcore bands from Florida from the mid/late 90’s. We’re extremely proud of where we’re from and the rich history of awesome hardcore bands from Florida over the years. We just got back from our first west coast tour which included appearances at SXSW.

On the flipside, what stupid/dumb bits of trivia about Blistered can you share with us? Y’know, the stuff you never thought you’d reveal to the public or at least never thought you’d ever have to talk about in a public forum? Or at least, tell us what have you not been asked in an interview that you haven’t and wished someone would?
There’s not too much weird trivia about Blistered. Sometimes on tour we make “Blistered Sandwiches” which are hot dog buns stuffed with Fritos and ketchup (sounds disgusting but it’s delicious, cheap and vegan). On our first tour, our drummer bought a pair of FUBU shoes, kept them in the box and only took them out to wear when we played and then they went right back in the box. At the end of the tour, when we got home, he returned them. We once did a tour where both guitarists wore the same Cro-Mags shirt every night which is badass because Cro-Mags are indisputably the best hardcore band of all time. That’s all the stupid/dumb trivia I got for ya.
