Exmortus – “Foe Hammer” Video Premiere

California’s Exmortus blew my ears and balls back with their debut full length, In Hatred`s Flame back in 2008. The quartet seemed destined to take their prodigious talents, love of aggressive 80s-inspired metal, interest in neo-classical shred and proclivity for combining all three of those elements to the top of the then-bubbling thrash revival. Then, well, I don`t know what happened or where they disappeared to. Metal Archives claims the band released an album in 2011, but that one totally passed under my rickety, old and probably-not-paying-enough-attention radar. Well, much like Jack Nicholson’s Jack Torrance and your psycho ex with the ridiculously low self-esteem and self-control coupled with her/his ridiculously high sex drive and disposable income, they’re back!

The band`s new album is called Slave to the Sword and is rife with not only ten helpings of thrash as seen, heard and rendered through the filter of Shrapnel Records and Yngwie Malmsteen (they include a souped-up version of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata for all your tux-and-tails wants and needs), but enough lyrical references to swords, warriors, steel, hammers and battles to fill the McCrary twins’ coffins.

Billy and Benny McCrary…get the reference now?

Prosthetic Records has made the band`s latest video, “Foe Hammer,” available to whet the appetites of you fine skulkers of the Deciblog. Check it out below and do yourself a favour and check out Slave to the Sword; you should have no problem finding it somewhere as it`s been out for three weeks.

Also, feast your peepers on this little bit of stupid-simple-and-stupid-effective bit of showmanship. The fun begins at 4:18.
