Ruins drummer documents actual ruins
Hot rocks
The avant garde/prog/noise duo
Ruins has been in mothballs since 2003, when bassist Sasaki Hisashi dropped out after an injury, though Skin Graft Records appears to be taking a break from putting out Arab on Radar side-projects with a re-release of the group’s nifty 1997 full-length Refusal Fossil. The revised and expanded “special edition” includes five previously unreleased tracks remastered by drummer Yoshida Tatsuya himself. In the meantime, Yoshida has been keeping busy laying ruin on tour as a solo artist and taking pictures of actual ruins in
a globe-trotting photography project. The tour diaries are in Japanese, but the photographs, including a series dedicated to Indonesian temples, totally speak for themselves.
