Bullet for My Valentine, H.I.M., Mastodon to Support Metallica Around the World
Pestilence, what you have to endure
Continuing their commitment to “following [their] instinct not a trend,” Metallica have announced that Bullet for My Valentine (black-clad Welsh kids with Myspace haircuts and songs about murdering their ex-girlfriends) and H.I.M. (Jackass-approved goth-metal) will open selected dates of their “Sick of the Studio” tour. They only just started recording their as-yet-untitled ninth album last week in Los Angeles, but they should be fully sick of it by the time the tour begins in July. BFMV will open at London’s Wembley Stadium and a date in Vienna that also boasts more credible support from Heaven & Hell (Sabbath with Dio). H.I.M. will join Metallica for three shows in Norway, Sweden and their home base Finland. Possibly of more interest to Decibel readers, Mastodon is on the bill for the pre-tour Super Bock Super Rock Festival on June 28 in Lisbon, Portugal, along with Machine Head, Stone Sour, and Joe Satriani (who probably hasn’t heard that guitar solos are dated).
