surprised by the lack of leviathan and weekend nachos

not surprised by tombs being no. 1

In solitude as no. 4 was a bit of a surprise and pretty cool.

i have never heard 5 of the bands in the top 10 i think

eew seriously?

I dont know how TTTW was reviewed but it's complete omission makes me think they're waiting for the verdict until they fully endorse it.

What was the rest of the top 10?

I guess Tombs makes up for the UTTER SHITE that makes up the rest of the top 10.

NOT ONE of those is any good besides Tombs and Yob (and I don't even like them that much, I just don't think they're bad)

Awesome for Tombs, not too surprised at the rest of the list.  I wonder if Crowbar made it.

Dont get me wrong, I loved Winter Hours but the new one was painfully meh for me.

Still not as bad the The Blue Record fiasco I suppose

i found the complete list online on a random forum. i have 21 of the albums in some

format of the other. i like reading top 40 lists but i take them with a grain of salt.

whatever the lists say it doesnt matter it was a good year in music.

Hmm the list is kinda weird to me. But I guess my listening habits have changed since I first subscribed to decibel. Even though I have 31 of those albums in my computer, my top list is looking completely different. I still haven't given a good listen to the new Brutal Truth, Hate Eternal, Mastodon, & Origin and I would have been all over them 2 years ago. At least Inquisition made it to the top 10.

i have the following albums from the list:

trap them

fucked up

gridlink

deafheaven

in solitude

negative plane

and mastodon on its way in the mail

also expected to see burzum somewhere on the list maybe…

i like the list, will have to buy some stuff from it to stay up to date… i feel like some out of touch 40 year old nerd with a slipknot shirt and no tattoos who only go to local shows, and throws the horns all the time

Of course, its one of the best albums of the year.

and here is the complete list from return to the pit, for those who cant wait to get their paws on the mag:

4. In Solitude – TheWorld. The Flesh. The Devil

5. Brutal Truth- End Time

6. Hate Eternal – Phoenix Amongst the Ashes

7. YOB – Atma

8. 40 Watt Sun – The Inside Room

9. Inquisition – Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual…….

10. Junius – Reports From The Threshold of Death

11. Graveyard – Hisingen Blues

12. Primordial – Redemption at the Puritan's Hand

13. Exhumed – All Guts, No glory

14. False – False

15. Autopsy – Macabre Eternal

16. Revocation – Chaos of Forms

17. Trap Them – Darker Handcraft

18. Obscura – Omnivium

19. Drugs of Faith – Corroded

20. Subrosa – No Help for the Mighty Ones

21. Ulcerate – The Destroyers of All

22. Fucked Up – David Comes to Life

23. Atriarch – Forever the End

24. Disma – Towards the Megalith

25. Moab – Ab Ovo

26. Gridlink – Orphan

27. Skeletonwitch – Forever Abomination

28. Vallenfyre – A Fragile King

29. Crowbar – Sever the Wicked Hand

30. Mournful Congregation – The Book of Kings

31. Machine Head – Unto the Locust

32. ABSU – Abzu

33. Negative Plane – Stained Glass Revelations

34. Origin – Entity

35. Darkest Era – The Last Caress of Light

37. Hammers of Misfortune – 17th Street

38. Krallice – Diotima

39. Rwake – Rest

40. Graf Orlock – Doom Box

edit: would also have expected Rotten Sound to be here…. but thats also kind of cool, that just because a band gets a good spot one year dosnt mean they can have that same spot every year for the rest of their carreer like…. other magazines… and magazines that like old bands alot

I'm listening to that In Solitude album for the first time. It's good but I still like Ghost more.

one of the 2011 albums is going tp be 21 cents to correspond with the 21st cd that they offer for the promotion. I'm guessing that it could be this one.

One man's 9 out of 10 is another's 18 out of 20.

Yea that Atriarch album was a monster…this list reminds me there is much to catch up on, but happy to see Atriarch and Deafheaven make the list…also, happy to see Trap Them make it because half the board is going to have a coronary for an album that isn't that bad….

Yeah, it's a bummer that he ditched Ludicra for this much, much less interesting band.
