Was in FYE the other day and was really tempted by this goth boxset, A Life Less Lived on sale for only $30. Passed on it, but am kinda regretting it now.
Anways…
Got my order from Hydra Head today which included Jesu/Battle of Mice
– Split (spinning it for the third time today), and Jesu –
Heartache/Dethroned.
Nothing is more exciting than hearing Jesu music that is new to my ears, and the first BoM song is quite impressive in it's way.

and I picked up Loma Prieta's discography and one of Punch's EPs at a show last weekend.

I got Precious Metal today, which prompted a quick search on Amazon.com for any cheap/used albums that are in the book. Soon I will be hearing Carcass – Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious, Monster Magnet – Dopes to Infinity, At the Gates – Slaughter of the Soul and Botch – We Are the Romans for the first time.

Sufjan Stevens- The Age of Adz
Before this I've only ever heard his whispery folksy stuff, which was artful if a bit yawn worthy, but this album is something else entirely. Take off your logic caps folks because this one is gonna blow your f'n mind. The man's a prodigy with the arrangements, and long before the "I'm not fucking around" chorus in track 10 you've forgotten it's a Sufjan album. And possibly where you're at in relation to the world. Seriously, shit gets Rather Odd in a hurry and that's a good thing.

Early Graves- Goner
Got hippie problems? Shitty neighbors? Voices in your head telling you to take a shit in a library book and return to your kids' school? Tell 'em all to go to hell by cranking this album louder than is medically advisable. It's a hell of final salvo from a frontman taken too soon.

What's the title mean? Haven't the foggiest. But holy shit the drums! I defy you to show me an album full of drums that rages any harder than that. And oh yeah, Tom G F'N Warrior. Lest we forget.
