so extreme music means metal to you?

To some people Black Sabbath, Queensryche and Angelwitch aren't extreme. The general historical record of Decibel seems to be one pointed toward "extreme" rock based music (with very occasional branching out in other directions, but never in the main articles). I wouldn't hold my breath for that to change.

It was being hyperbolic, but in general I don't think the mag should cover in depth on genres (like hip-hop, country and alt. rock) that other magazines already do.

In a broader sense I think one could point to Public Enemy and their relationship with Metal (especially Anthrax) as a note for the start of Rap Metal (and nu-metal). In documenting the history of the genre I guess that's pretty legitimate, even though I really don't give much of a damn for anything that's really come from Metal and Rap colliding. That said, Rap and Hip-Hop have plenty of journalistic outlets that probably make more money than Decibel does. So if Decibel were to go that route (and thankfully beyond this recent suggestion by some board members there has been no hint of it in the actual magazine) I'd probably abonden it, becuse if I want that I can get it from any number of other magazines. Fuck, if alls fair lets have a Velvet Underground HOF and then a Nick Cave one while we're at it.

And LR, you're pretty far off on your last post. Rick Rubin, The Beastie Boys, The Judgement Night Soundtrack, elements of House of Pain and The Gravediggaz.... there are a lot of connections, and if you include Hardcore, than it's countless.
