Surpsingly I've been watching less movies lately. Its been hard find good trash (plus no money). Zombie Death House was pretty fun (John Saxon directed it). Tried to sit through the howling sequels, having a tough time with that. I keep hoping blue underground will put out some more italian horror, but haven't have much luck

I saw that and Cabin and the Woods are on streaming. If Tucker and Dale is still on there, I can throw on my Evil Dead 2 dvd and have a helluva fun movie marathon.

So last night was fun. Went to a screening of Oblivion on the Universal lot. A lot better than I expected. If you in general like big budget Sci-fi movies go see it.

Then ran over to Burbank and caught The Lords of Salem where the entire cast was present and Zombie gave a Q&A afterward. The vibe, seeing people and the Q&A were great..... the movie on the other hand well, it had the potential to be amazing, but kind of fell short. Zombie was pretty willing to admit he need more time and money to make it what he wanted.

Well, it tanked at the box office...$622,000 for the weekend...not surprised, he needs to conjure 1991 Rob Zombie and let THAT guy makes movies from here on out.

Zero promotion will do that...I mean I don't watch a ton of TV, but I can't remember seeing a single spot for this. It'll have its cult status in the long run I'm sure.

Just checked Box Office Mojo...so far it's done $1.033 million, and the budget was $1.5. By this time next week it will technically be more successful than Die Hard 5 and that dumb Steve Carrel magician movie.

Well he's said no more horror movies for a long while. (as for whether it'll tank or not financially in the long run, doesn't look like its been released internationally yet, plus I imagine DVD/Blu-Ray sales of it will do quite well).

I read an interview with the new Evil Dead director - who got the job because Raimi liked a 5-minute short he did - and the final sequence used over 50,000 gallons of fake blood. That is awesome.

As far as gore and scares, I winced a few times and jumped once. Unless I'm forgetting something, it's the best wide-release American horror movie I've seen in theaters since The Descent.

The Descent is by far one of my top 10, maybe top 5 of all time.

Only saw it recently. I liked it a pretty good deal, but not really a favorite for me. Actually like Dog Soldiers way more.

"Actually" you like Dog Soldiers more? Look, I love Dog Soldiers, but that statement is fucking weird. You're saying it like they're comparitive. Both had vastly different budgets, themes and ideas. I mean, I guess you could say, "people stuck together in a dark place fighting things in the dark." Congrats, that's at least half of horror.

It's the same Director/Writer so that's why I compared them.
