Every other Friday (well, Monday this time), Waldo the African Grey Parrot, frontbird of thrash-grind immortals Hatebeak, will get you caught up on the week’s latest “extreme” releases.

Mothersquawkers, whats up? Your boy Waldo here with some new release fresh with birdshit.

The Haunted made you do it, again. Unseen is a little experimental for the band, especially vocals, but this band continues to grow and progress. Although the aggression seems to be removed from the album, it’s almost laid back and catchy in a way, and unless you’ve been living in a cage, you SHOULD know and appreciate the guitar work on this and all their records. Pretty beaking good. 7 Fucking Pecks.

Woods of Ypres bring their (lack of) melancholy with their new one Against the Seasons: Cold Winter Songs From the Dead Summer Heat. Some people get off on this type of somber stuff, but to me it really sounds like it’d fit in with a bunch of white hats blasting this out of a jeep at your local strip mall on a Friday night. This is someone’s drunk uncle’s favorite band; you know, THAT drunk uncle, the one that proceeds to tell you how he “USED” to be metal after 30 or so Miller Lites, and this is his favorite band. Mindless drivel. 2 Fucking Pecks.

Beardfish’s Mammoth is a real beak-scratcher. I have no idea what this is supposed to be. Check out ONLY if you’re morbidly curious. ? Fucking Pecks.

The Rods have been at it for over 30 years. They release a new one with Vengeance, and it rules. If you know this band at all, you know what to expect, and this is no exception. Rockin’ hard riffs with rockin’ vocals make for one pecking rockin’ record. Pure fun for any heavy metalist. 6 Fucking Pecks.

Whitesnake come at you with Forevermore. There is nothing surprising at all here. One really knows what to expect from Coverdale and Co. The single “Love Will Set You Free” is a raucous rock jam until the pecking cheesy chorus kicks in and sounds like a Patti LaBelle song. Pure ’80s worship. Tawny Kitaen certainly couldn’t even save this one. Get out your fringed leather jackets and bang your poofy hair to the new GreatWhiteSnakeLion record. 3 Fucking Pecks.
